If you have more than one of these symptoms chances are your Skin Barrier is more than likely damaged.⁣

The skin barrier is the outer most part of your epidermis (skin!) and acts as a wall to protect your skin from damage, bacteria, environmental aggressors and more.⁣

Your skin experiences trans epidermal water loss (TEWL) when your skin barrier is compromised. In other words, the moisture in your skin essentially exits stage left and evaporates. This leaves your skin with signs of dryness. These can include a rough texture, flakiness or tightness. Dullness is another sign of a compromised moisture barrier, related to dryness. ⁣

When you want to repair a damaged skin barrier, there are things you can start doing to see and feel relief. ⁣

Simplify your skincare routine. Invest in products and ingredients that help support the health of your skin barrier. Ingredients that are good to use for your skin’s moisture barrier include Hyaluronic Acid, Peptides and Ceramides. ⁣

Hyaluronic Acid is a molecule that occurs naturally in the skin and can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water. It binds water to collagen to keep it in the skin. ⁣

Peptides are short chains of amino acids, which act as building blocks of proteins—like collagen, keratin and elastin. ⁣

Ceramides are lipids found naturally in the upper layers of skin and help form a protective layer that limits moisture loss. ⁣

Never forget the power of H20! Water works wonders on the skin barrier from the inside out. By drinking your recommended daily water intake you give skin a chance to reboot, replenish and regenerate. ⁣

Are you noticing a blemish coming to the surface?⁣

Try rubbing ice on the inflamed breakout for 1-2 mins in circular motion.⁣

This will help with the redness and inflammation. ⁣

You can do this step in the am and pm routine after cleansing.

⁣⁣⁣
6 months of progress⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
One of my favorite clients because of how consistent she’s been with follow ups and home care. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Nicole originally came to me as a referral from another esthetician since I specialize in acne. We started her on our Acne Bootcamp and got to work right away.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
The first thing we needed to accomplish was to bring the congestion to the surface.(As seen on slide 4)⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Her follow up visits have been every 2 weeks. Which consisted of hydrating treatments as well as chemical peels. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
During the treatments there were lots of ups and downs because her skin did get worse before getting better and she felt there was no improvement.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I reassured Nicole that this was part of the process and walked her though every step of the way. I mentioned to Nicole that I was committed in helping her, but I needed for her to trust in me and commit on doing her part. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The process was slow but surely Nicole started getting compliments from her family and friends on how better her skin was looking.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Although she could not see those small changes I could and I was so happy for her!⁣⁣
⁣⁣
But let’s be honest when you’re seeing yourself constantly every day there will be times when it may seem like there’s no improvements and we tend to be hard on ourselves. This is when we have to love ourselves the most.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
It’s not easy going through this, but I strongly encourage my clients to contact me when they feel like giving up. I will be there for you and I will not allow you to give up.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Although we are not at the finish line yet, I really felt the need to share this story. Just when think you’ve tried it all, there is still hope, you just have to reach out.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
If you’ve tried everything over the counter and feel like this is it, "I’m going to have acne forever" reach out or click the "Book Button" and let’s get you started on the right path to clear skin.⁣⁣
