Eyeglass Prescription Facts:

The Eyeglass Rule, enforced by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), requires eye doctors to give patients a copy of their prescription after an eye exam. The rule applies to both optometrists and ophthalmologists.
Key provisions of the Eyeglass Rule
Patients must receive their prescription immediately after their exam, whether or not they ask for it.
Patients can't be required to buy eyeglasses from the doctor
Patients can't be required to sign a waiver or pay extra fees to get their prescription.
Purpose of the rule
The rule's purpose is to allow consumers to shop around for prescription eyewear.
Recent amendments
The FTC recently published a final rule that amends the Eyeglass Rule. The amendments include:
Requiring prescribers to get a signed confirmation after giving a patient their prescription
Allowing prescribers to electronically release prescriptions if they get the patient's consent
Clarifying that showing insurance coverage counts as payment when determining when to provide a prescription.

Eyewear Outlet has a 60-day Dr's change policy.
If the prescription has to be redone from a doctor within 60 days, we will replace at No-Charge.
