Specific gravity measures the density of the saltwater solution in our float tanks compared to pure water. Our tanks are filled with a high concentration of Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) to create that effortless float. By checking specific gravity daily, we ensure:

A hydrometer is a simple but precise tool we use to measure specific gravity. Here’s how it works:
1️⃣We place the hydrometer in a sample of the tank’s saltwater.
2️⃣It floats, and the level at which it sits indicates the solution’s density.
3️⃣The reading tells us if the salt-to-water ratio is spot-on (We keep our ratio between 1.265–1.285 and this picture is reading 1.282).
If needed, we adjust the solution to maintain that perfect float environment!
