“Though [enter situation here]—
Yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I rejoice in the God of my salvation.
The Lord God is my strength;
He will keep me sure-footed and agile,
As I take on the mountains.”
Paraphrased Habakkuk 3:17-19

A creative bank account is a mental treasury that stores ideas, inspirations, and observations from everyday life, so you can “withdraw” them later in your creative process.
“Deposits” can come from books you read, things you watch or listen to, places you visit, scenes you notice, conversations you have and more. These can spark and strengthen your creativity.
One way I fill my creative bank account is by visiting museums and galleries wherever I visit, and my last brief trip to Nigeria was no exception.
It’s been many years since I last visited the Nike Art Gallery; this time, I got to chat with the renowned Nigerian textile artist, Chief Nike Davies-Okundaye and her husband, experienced the acrylic medium again after a long time, and whipped up this masterpiece🎨👨🏾🎨🤣.
Interestingly, my Oni Gele yi piece of my art at the Henderson City Hall pays homage to all the industrious women of Africa who have built and continue to sustain a multi-centuries-old legacy of creativity through textile making. Still on Display until December 2025.
QUESTION - How do you fill up your creative bank account?
