Join us for an evening of creativity and craftsmanship at our Wood Carving Workshop on May 27 from 5:30–7:00 PM at Frick Park. Whether you're a beginner or experienced carver, you'll receive hands-on instruction, all necessary materials including carving knives, gloves, and wood along with the chance to create your own unique piece. We’ll meet at the Frick Environmental Center before heading to a serene outdoor carving space. In case of rain, we’ll carve under shelter.

Spring is the perfect time to reconnect with nature, try something new, and explore the outdoors in fresh ways.

Join the OIC for two upcoming events designed to help you do just that:

Virtual Hiking Info Session – April 9
Join our Program Coordinator for an in-depth virtual session highlighting some of the best hiking trails in and around Pittsburgh. From urban parks like Schenley to scenic destinations like Dolly Sods, we’ll cover trail length and unique features to help you plan your next outdoor adventure.

Wood Carving in Frick Park – April 21
Spend an evening learning the art of woodcarving in the serene setting of Frick Park. This hands-on program is ideal for both beginners and experienced carvers. Participants will receive instruction on safe knife handling, carving techniques, and tool care. All materials are provided, including a carving knife, cut-resistant gloves, sandpaper, and wood. You’ll have time to create wooden utensils, figurines, or other personal projects. We’ll meet at the Frick Environmental Center and take a short walk to our outdoor carving area. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held under shelter at the Center.
