I was surprised to find out that these belong to the family of summer squashes. At first, I didn’t know what these were; it looks like decor and something inedible. I learned that these cute  fruits are called patty pans.

As it turns out, patty pans are close cousins to zucchinis and cucumbers. They are a type of summer squash that has a flare of its own, a cute and distinct shape! Another name for these is the Tulip Squash— a fitting name.

The most common way to prepare patty pans is to cut and sauté them in lemon, garlic herbs, and maybe cheese. I heard that they compliment protein well. Once I grow the patty pan seeds out, I will have to try it!

I introduce to you: The Moneymaker Tomato. It has a grand name for a grand, long lasting tomato. This tomato lives up to its name because it was and still is a staple crop for English farmers.

In the past, this tomato was heavily farmed as it’s very resilient to weather conditions. It has high heat and humidity tolerance, making it easy to grow. Further, they grow in clusters on vines, giving farmers plenty to sell. For beginner gardeners, I suggest the Moneymaker Tomato as one of their first plants.

When I first started growing this tomato, I was excited to see the smallest bud sprout; the seeds germinated a bit slower than other seeds. However, in the blink of an eye, I had a whole vine of tomatoes!

These golden tomatoes have just the perfect name: The Golden Jubilee Tomato. To be jubilee is to be joyous and festive. What better name for these bright and cheery tomatoes.

Only a few have started to ripen and turn a vibrant yellow. However, all of them will soon become like this one I picked. It’s almost time for tomato season, and these will be the most ripe tomatoes when it’s time to harvest!

To celebrate the end of tomato season, pick a full batch of jubilee tomatoes. They're great in tomato salads or even to try as golden pasta sauce! In my opinion, they're similar to normal tomatoes but add a touch of color to the garden.

These are more pictures from the tomato harvest. I am surprised that there were so many tomatoes that grew from the seeds. I never expected my small setup would mean fresh batches of fully ripe fruits!

Last night, I made some roasted tomatoes; I enjoy having my tomatoes hot and cooked instead of cold and crisp. They tasted tangy sweet, just delicious. I can’t wait to make more tonight because just thinking about them is working up my appetitie.

I want to try making a variety of tomato dishes in the future, and one of them is a traditional Chinese dish that I saw was very popular. You simply cook tomatoes with scrambled eggs in salt, pepper, and garlic. After that, maybe I will try making ketchup or ketchup leather!
