Some more Edgar Thomson photos on film.
One of my goals is to create a photo book, or zine, of Edgar Thomson photos (2020 - Present), and perhaps film might be an appendix of beginning of a second one as trying these scenes on film has been a lot of fun. I hope to do some more work digging through archives for the book soon. Let me know if you might be interested, and if there is any wider interest I can try to have ready by Christmas for a gift. Regardless I'm still going to do it for myself.
Don't expect too many photos from out east though once the commercial street bridge closes the tunnels.
Hope everyone has a great Sunday.

A few late afternoon film photos of Edgar Thomson.
On a different note, today is Amazon Prime Day. Some might say it's a scam, or overrated but I have a different viewpoint as the whole reason you are seeing photos from me is because of it. I have always loved photography, but the equipment is expensive and had mid to low level gear prior to 2019 and had never even set foot on the West End Overlook, might have been on Mt Washington twice, and never set foot near point except a second grade field trip at that time. Essentially, I was like most Pittsburghers in that regard.
I have 4 kids and in 2019 I woke up to change a diaper right around the start of of Prime Day (3:00 am on east coast). I couldn't go back to sleep so decided to check the app and looked at my wish list items and quickly noticed something. Pretty much everything I was looking at was priced at a really amazingly low...and by low...I mean LOW.
I quickly added two cameras and two lenses to my cart, checked out, and when I woke up I wasn't sure if it was a dream, so I checked my purchase history, and it wasn't, and I did order the items. Something felt off now that I got a few hours of sleep looked at what I ordered...and the total price, so I reached out to Amazon chat and they mentioned there was a pricing error, but they would honor the purchases I made. The equipment arrived a few days later.
On this particular Prime Day in 2019, EVERY camera sold by Amazon, and EVERY lens, was listed and sold for a price of $94.48 each for only a few brief moments, of which by a stroke of luck a set of routine events led me down a path to take advantage of. Anyone that owns a camera, can attest to $94 is quite the bargain for any of this equipment (quite the understatement).
It turns out the numbers 94 and 48 have some special significance to amazon, with 94 being year it was founded etc. Whether it was a publicity stunt, or true pricing error, I've never heard the answer to that, but it provided me with a large assortment of new camera gear, that I made a mission to set out to fully use in a different way capturing the city and things of interest to me ever since and starting posting online (mostly to Instagram).
I didn't catch any amazing deals this year and likely won't ever again but funny how a fluke can work out and be the catalyst for so many photos (some good, some bad).
