The Office of the Assessor for Contra Costa County recently sent out this notice about your opportunity to have your assessed value reviewed for a possible decline in assessed value which may result in a lower property tax bill. As a Certified Residential Appraiser I am aware that there can be discrepancies as to what is reported in public records and what actually exists on the property in terms of physical features (i.e square footage). Therefore, I suggest doing a review of your own public records information and market value estimate to see if you can get the free review if it is not automatic.
