With holidays around the corner, here are some tips to be event ready!

1. Figure out what day you like your curls best (I.e. day 2 or day 4) and schedule your appointment that many days before your event if you plan to wear a wash and set style to the event.
2. If you like day 4 hair, use the products that will give you that look on day 1! More often than not this is when I may use lighter weight holds and products that promote more volume!
3. For the love of all sanity, please don’t wait til the last minute to book for an important event. If needed and you are able to book a weekly or bi-weekly style maintenance appointment. As the old saying goes, if you stay ready you don’t have to get ready!

Schedule a style coaching session on how to turn your daily style into a fabulous look for an event. This way you have a few extra tricks up your sleeve to feel glamorous for any last minute soirée or major event that may come up.

3 common reasons to know if it may be time to detox your curls! 1. Your only shampoo is designed to hydrate your curls. (Usually the creamier the shampoo the least cleansing it is) 2. You only use cream rinses and heard shampoo was bad. 3. You have hard water or well water. In my professional opinion, based on 20years of experience, detoxes are best to be done in a salon and not creating something at home based on YT University. Some of those detoxes on there can create bigger challenges for you when you want to do salon services like color or can be too harsh for your curls. Side Note: What is mentioned above does not mean what you are using is bad. It simply means that these are a few causes of different types of buildup that may need to removed in order for your styling products to work and or perform better. Not all products are created equally no matter what a chart says your curls are and or need. Shampoos , conditioners, treatments (including masks and detoxes), as well as styling products have different strengths and are created to achieve certain looks. It’s not a matter of good or bad, it’s identifying if that product gets you closer to your curl goal or takes you further away from your curly goals and makes your style harder to achieve/ maintain. Lots of times we think change is a scary word or means it has to be drastic. Simply put, that is far from true. Change begins with a small step. It’s a choice. How far, big, or wide you choose to leap is up to you, but it just takes a small step in the right direction.
