Increasing Instability This Afternoon..

Latest guidance shows increasing instability after 5pm with convective available potential energy over 5,000 which is 5x the normal thunderstorm. A weakening capping inversion in Oklahoma has a better likely hood of breaking to turn storms severe very quickly. Large hail, damaging winds and tornadoes in Oklahoma, if the cap breaks.

For North Texas instability is very high, but a stronger CAP. After 5pm it does show a little weakness that may allow one or two cells to go above the boundary layer. If that occurs they would turn severe very quickly in this environment.

Main timeframe 5pm to Midnight for isolated activity. I’ll be watching.
