On the anniversary of D-Day, we pause to honor the extraordinary courage, sacrifice, and resolve of the Allied forces who landed in Normandy on June 6, 1944.
Their actions marked a pivotal moment in history and contributed significantly to the preservation of freedom and democracy. We remember with gratitude those who served, those who sacrificed, and those who never returned home.
May we continue to uphold the values for which they fought and ensure that their legacy is never forgotten.

We had a great coffee hour this morning in Mesa, Arizona with our Veterans and their Families.
We were proud to welcome six new Veterans into our formation and honored to hear their military stories. It was inspiring to see how community connections and word-of-mouth continue to help our formation grow wherever we go. Every story shared strengthens our mission and reminds us of the power of fellowship, service, and mutual support.
We also reflected on the pride that comes with military service and the long-standing tradition of saluting the colors. Discussions highlighted how wearing Veteran caps and other military insignia can create meaningful connections with fellow Veterans throughout the community.
The importance of conducting buddy checks was another key topic. We encouraged everyone to keep fellow Veterans informed when a comrade is hospitalized or facing challenges. Staying connected strengthens our support network and helps ensure that no Veteran faces difficult times alone.
We also reviewed the benefits and guidelines of VA Community Care. This program enables eligible Veterans to receive authorized care from community care providers when the VA is unable to provide the care needed. Eligibility is based on specific requirements, the availability of VA care, and each Veteran’s unique needs and circumstances.

We had a wonderful morning with our Veterans and their Families in Surprise, Arizona. Sharing military stories, personal journeys, and plenty of laughter made for a meaningful and inspiring time together. We are grateful for the connections and memories shared.
Today, we had the honor of welcoming five Veterans, including two remarkable individuals who were over 100 years old and proudly served during World War II. Their presence served as a powerful reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of those who came before us, and the lasting impact of their service on our nation.
Today also demonstrated the positive impact of our community outreach efforts. We continue to make meaningful progress in connecting with members of our community, and we encourage everyone to keep reaching out, building relationships, and supporting one another.
A special thank-you to Terri Flowers for her support. We are also deeply grateful to our volunteers for keeping the coffee cups full and the conversation flowing. They do an incredible job helping everyone feel seen, heard, supported, and remembered.

This morning, we had the privilege of sharing breakfast with Veterans at Abbington Senior Living of Gilbert in Arizona. It was a meaningful opportunity to connect, exchange stories, and enjoy camaraderie over a meal in a warm and welcoming environment.
We discussed the importance of staying connected and active within the community. We also shared Veteran caps and other military symbols, encouraging everyone to wear them with pride. As we know, a Veteran cap serves as a beacon of light and can be a powerful conversation starter.
We sincerely appreciate the Abbington staff for providing a welcoming space and breakfast for our Veteran seniors to gather. We are also deeply grateful to our dedicated volunteers for giving their time and heart to support our Veterans in senior living, ensuring they are never forgotten. Their presence, conversations, and genuine connections truly made a meaningful difference.

Minimizing barriers to Veterans’ care on RED Shirt Friday!
Army Vietnam Veteran and Veterans Affinity volunteer Doug Leach recently visited Veterans at The Palms at Sun City senior living community to provide hands-on assistance with VA paperwork and benefits support.
After The Palms reached out requesting assistance for their Veteran residents, Doug visited and supported them by helping with U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) enrollment applications, Intent to File submissions, and Pre-Need Eligibility applications for VA burial benefits, ensuring they had guidance through key VA processes and access to available benefits.

A huge thank you to Doug for continuing to serve his fellow Veterans with compassion and dedication. He made sure every Veteran felt seen, heard, supported, and remembered. Doug’s dedication to duty reflects the commitment we share to honoring those who served our country and ensuring they receive the care and benefits they have earned.
