Workshops on Diabetes Prevention and Management

St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center invites Maricopa County community organizations to collaborate with us on a vital initiative! We're offering a FREE, six-week workshop series (1.5 hours weekly) on diabetes prevention and management, designed for adults aged 18 and up.

Through our "Equity Heals: Addressing Chronic Kidney Disease" grant, St. Joseph's will provide expert, certified DEEP (Diabetes Empowerment and Education Program) peer educators to lead these workshops at your location, completely free of charge.

Looking for a shorter session? Our Peer Educators can also deliver an impactful 30-45 minute presentation on diabetes basics and its profound connection to chronic kidney disease, which tragically impacts Native American, African American, and Latino communities at higher rates. Given that 1 in 3 adults is unknowingly at risk of kidney disease, your partnership can make a real difference. Let's empower our community with knowledge and change these statistics together!

If you are interested in learning more, please email Mayra Ramirez, Project Manager Community Health at [email protected].

America at 250: Giving Thanks, Telling the Truth, Renewing Hope (An Interfaith Prayer Vigil) 07/04/2026

On July 2, people of many faiths gathered for America at 250: Giving Thanks, Telling the Truth, Renewing Hope—an interfaith prayer vigil and community conversation centered on gratitude, honesty, and our shared hope for the future of our nation.

This meaningful gathering marked the culmination of our Interfaith Dialogue: Shared Values in American Scripture series. Together, we prayed, reflected, and recommitted ourselves to building a more just, compassionate, and beloved community across lines of faith and difference.

Thank you to our inspiring speakers, faith leaders, partners, and everyone who joined us. Your voices reminded us that while our traditions are diverse, they call us toward many of the same values: love of neighbor, justice, peace, truth, and hope.

If you missed the event—or would like to revisit it and share it with others—you can watch the full recording here:

May we continue this work together, giving thanks, telling the truth, and renewing hope as we journey toward America’s 250th anniversary.
