World Cup excitement was in full swing at Ryan House today! ⚽️💙

At Ryan House, volunteers bring comfort, joy, and meaningful moments to children and families every day. For Linda, volunteering began as a family connection and became a rewarding part of her retirement. “Being a volunteer goes back a few years, to when my daughter Amber volunteered while in college,” Linda shared. “She loved the kids and urged me to come help. I was working crazy hours and did not think I had the time to help. Retired now, I have the time and enjoy the kids.” Now, especially during the warm July days, Linda loves finding simple ways to brighten a child’s day, like sneaking out for a quick wheelchair run under the shaded patio. Or if she is being silly to make a child laugh or giving a soothing foot rub that brings a smile to a nonverbal child’s face, those moments make her day better, too.

Sometimes hope looks like a quiet moment, a full night's sleep, or the chance to simply breathe.
