Toby is an 11–12 year old German Shepherd who has been waiting far too long for a forever home. After being heartbreakingly abandoned, he’s now in a foster home where he’s shown just how wonderful he truly is. Toby is calm, well-mannered, potty trained, and loves nothing more than relaxing on the couch or enjoying a quiet walk. He rides great in the car and is not destructive — an easy, gentle companion.

Toby would do best in a peaceful home with calm dogs. He cannot live with cats. This sweet senior deserves a soft place to land and a family who will love him for the rest of his days.

One of our volunteers took Thor out for a special day, and here's what she had to say:

🐾❤️ THOR'S SPECIAL DAY OUT! ❤️🐾

Today, Thor got a much-needed break from boarding, and he was SO excited! The moment he saw the car door open, he hopped right in and was ready for his adventure. 🚗💨

One of Thor's favorite parts of the day? Sticking his head out the window and letting his jowls flap freely in the wind! 😂❤️

Once we arrived, Thor was ready to explore. He happily sniffed every bush he could find and took in all the sights and smells around him. We met up with another volunteer who brought a dog named Bobby, and honestly, neither dog paid much attention to the other they were both too busy enjoying their own adventures! 🐕🐕

We walked for a while, but Thor the big giant he is was getting tired of walking. So Thor was happy to find a shady grassy spot where he could relax, stretch out, and enjoy some fresh water. ☀️🌳💧

Thor is such a sweetheart. He takes treats incredibly gently, loves to lounge around, and is simply a joy to spend time with. He didn't react to bike riders, joggers, or other dogs passing by. He was completely content just enjoying his day and living in the moment. ❤️

And because every great outing deserves a special treat, we made a stop at McDonald's on the way home, where Thor enjoyed a sausage muffin. 🍔😋

Thor rides wonderfully in the car, has great manners, and is truly one of those dogs who is easy and fun to be around. He deserves so much more than living at boarding in a kennel. He deserves a couch, a family, and someone to love him forever. 🏡❤️
