So we moved to our new leased pasture 2 weeks ago and Dean and I are slowly at our pace putting our infrastructure together Ie fencing.

Our bucks and wethers along with our grow out lambs are loving their new digs!!

Today I put up a taller fencing by attaching it to the existing fencing to keep our boys from sneaking into an area that another tenant uses for his horse and they want to steal his hay. Our stinkers!

Last evening Dean and I set up pens for our 2 drake ducks to finish their grow out on pasture for harvest January or February next year.

We will be picking up our breeding kunekune boar later this week and taking him to his temporary home to breed the sow we have boarded there and bringing home our grow out kunekune boar to finish him for freezer camp.

We will be adding 7 more goats to our pack. 5 are meat goats-4wethers and 1doe and 2 are dairy bucks.

Dean asked me last night jokingly so when are you adding turkeys. I laughed and said lol. Well that’s going to be next year to grow out for holiday meals and we will get 1-3 to share with our landlords if they are interested.

So prepping and basic survival skills.
Are you ready for economic hardships, commercial food supply shortages or God forbid an apocalypse of some kind.

We are at the last 1 1/2 months to the end of an economic hardship due to Missy's medical issues.

How did we do it. Careful budgeting and planning. We had basic supplies stocked up like pasta, 40lb bag of flour & bread flour, 25lb bag of sugar & brown, corn meal, oatmeal.
Frozen bulk chubs of ground turkey, hit the buy 1 get 3 free at Albertsons and more things like that.

We store our dry goods on 5 gallon buckets to keep bugs out!

We have done well until this month 8/2017. We needed help. We were blessed by friends and very kind people.

It's a weird place to be right now because we are usually the ones helping others. Detouring on the way somewhere to get a mom with her kids on the corner Powerade, water, slim jim's cookies to keep them hydrated in the hot as heck summer. We are the ones the neighborhood kids came to because there was no food at home.
I guess it's just our time and season to receive.
