🔥Meet Carmen Montes “La Chispa”
From the small town of Mapimí, Durango, Mexico, to becoming one of North America’s most respected flamenco artists, Carmen Montes has dedicated her life to preserving the soul of flamenco. Beginning her dance journey at just five years old, she later refined her artistry in Spain under some of flamenco’s most celebrated masters, carrying forward a tradition that is both deeply rooted and ever evolving.
As the Executive and Artistic Director of Casa Flamenca Albuquerque, NM, Carmen has helped build one of the country’s premier flamenco organizations. Her mission is to preserve, cultivate, and share the authentic art of flamenco by creating opportunities for education, performance, and cultural connection while inspiring future generations of artists.
