Update on yet another shady success story!! We planted these trees last august in an ongoing effort to shade the streets and fight the heat island effect. I would’ve waited until this upcoming august to do this update but strange circumstances warranted an early update. These 7 trees have been growing great pretty much undisturbed until last week when someone got in a fight with one of our poor desert willows. We unfortunately didn’t witness the scuffle, but our tree was left battered and partially torn out of the ground. We are not sure what could’ve prompted this altercation as desert willows are known to be docile and non-aggressive. However we can be pretty sure it was homo sapien activity as they are known to be impulsive and reckless. Anyways plant doctor Coby patched it up and its back and recuperating beautifully. Later this year we hope to be planting so many more trees around the area. If you want any info on planting native species and urban landscapes let us know, we are always thrilled to talk about it.

Costs are so high now and the odds are stacked against most small businesses. Despite having very busy spring we’re looking at any way we can to cut costs at the shop- but that also means doing so at home, because when our business is impacted so are we. Everything from our bags to our rags, power and plants has shot up and we’re working hard not to increase pricing in any way we can when we can.

About three months ago our old hand-me-down dryer started making a funky sound and I decided to see if I could switch to hang drying, a month later we put the dryer in shed and in doing so our home is quieter and we’re saving power and making less heat. Our power bill also stopped rising for the first time in years.

This is the first time we’ve hung all the rags outside on a new line we made last week with some random bits and ropes we had lying around that I found organizing the shed.

Taking the time to slow down, save and just all around simplify my life lately has brought so many pros but it’s been a strange adjustment. It feels like life is moving so fast, so slowing down takes patience.

Anyway, you’ll see our stained rags around Pueblo when you’re in- and know that literally everything we do we do with intention. 🤙🏼
