Congratulations to Makaya Pickens, another recipient of the 2026 Ms. Attitude Scholarship Award! 🎓✨

Makaya has been awarded a $750 scholarship in recognition of her hard work, determination, leadership, and commitment to her future. We are incredibly proud of the growth she has demonstrated throughout her journey and are honored to invest in her continued success.

At the Social Roots Foundation, we believe that supporting our young people means investing in their dreams. This scholarship is one small way of celebrating Makaya’s achievements while encouraging her as she takes the next steps toward her educational goals.

Congratulations, Makaya! We can’t wait to see all that you accomplish. 💛🌱

Access to culturally responsive mental health care is especially important for Black girls, who often face unique social, academic, and community stressors while navigating systems that have historically created barriers to mental health support.

By investing in therapy for the ladies in Ms. Attitude, we are investing in healing, self-worth, resilience, and the long-term well-being of the young women we serve.

We are so proud of the girls who chose to invest in their own mental health by utilizing this resource. ❤️‍🩹
