Perry the pig is 💚SAFE!!💚

I got a call from a friend: there’s a piggy at Perry High School on the baseball fields that needs help! I had an hour open, so I headed over “just to assess the situation.” He was sound asleep in the dugout, surrounded by veggies and mud. Security said that the night before, they had found him wandering around the school and herded him into the locked baseball fields.

The setup was perfect. We quickly blocked the dugout exits and corralled him into an XL dog kennel. He’s a good 150–200 pounds… but docile as a puppy! He was ready to be safe and fell asleep in the kennel so soundly that I had to check for breathing. He even rolled over for belly scratches.

Perry the Pig is safe at a foster while we wait for his owner to reach out. You can tell he’s a much-loved pet, and he has very nice manners. Perry is safe with Ironwood Pig Sanctuary 🐖! It takes a village! Thanks to everyone who helped get Perry safe, especially the school, who took all the right steps.

On a side note, pigs are not always so nice when confined and need to be rescued carefully, especially when they have been out on their own for a while. Perry was a beautiful ambassador for the species. Thanks for an “out-of-the-box” rescue, Perry.
