Rats are really having a PR crisis right now!
First it was hantavirus. Then bubonic plague. Then salmonella. And now we can add rat lungworm to the list.

Rat lungworm is a parasite linked to rats and can contaminate soil, fruits, and vegetables through rat droppings and other rodent bodily fluids.

In some cases, the parasite can make its way to your brain, which is one of those sentences nobody wants to hear. It can cause serious symptoms like severe headaches, neck stiffness, weakness, and other neurological problems.

The good news is most people recover completely. But if you develop a bad headache, stiff neck, or other unusual symptoms after gardening or eating contaminated produce, don’t try to “wait it out.” That’s a situation where you let a doctor take over the investigation.🧠😬

So enjoy gardening, but wash your hands thoroughly afterwards and definitely give those raw fruits and veggies a good scrub before eating them.

And Remember, you don’t have to live with rats.

Urban Desert Pest Control offers FREE rodent evaluations. Let’s keep the rats outside where they belong. 🐀🚫

New to Arizona? These creatures might make you wonder if you’ve landed on another planet.

🦂 Bark Scorpion
🕷️ Sun Spider
🦂 Whip Scorpion
🕸️ Tarantula
🐛 Giant Desert Centipede
🪳Palo Verde Beetle

The good news? Most of these scary-looking desert neighbors would rather avoid you than chase you. The bad news? Some can still deliver a painful sting or bite if disturbed.

At Urban Desert Pest Control, we help Arizona homeowners identify, prevent, and control the creepy crawlers that make new residents question their life choices.
