Understanding Tides
When we talk about the ocean, we often say "the tide comes in" or "the tide goes out." But what's really happening?
The Earth's rotation causes the tide to rise and fall. The moon's gravity pulls on the water, creating high and low tides. As the Earth rotates, different parts of the planet experience this pull.
So, it's not that the tide is "coming in" or "going out." The Earth is simply rotating, making the water level rise and fall.
Using accurate language helps us understand the world better. It's like saying "the Earth rotates" instead of "the sun rises." Small details can make a big difference in our understanding.
