This weekend, the Piestewa Fallen Heroes Memorial Ceremony will take place at Piestewa Peak on March 23, as it does each year, to honor and remember Arizona’s fallen heroes.
Named in memory of Army Spc. Lori Ann Piestewa, the peak serves as a lasting tribute to her sacrifice. Lori was a 23-year-old Hopi mother of two from Tuba City, Arizona, who gave her life in service during the Iraq War. She was the first documented American female casualty of the war and the first known Native American woman to die in combat.
If you’re able to attend, this is a powerful way to show support and gratitude for those who have given everything in service to our country.
