I was recently in New York, and it was an awesome opportunity to experiment with shooting portraits using ambient and natural light. There’s no lack of illumination (especially in Times Square), and I was able to find several spots where the bright signs and billboards served as a perfect key for my “models”. Typically, to achieve this lighting I would have needed to provide my own light source and modifier.
