CollectiV Landscape Architects

The CollectiV team, in collaboration with church staff and members, has been actively rethinking how first-time visitors arrive, attend, and perceive the First United Methodist Church campus. Additionally, they have considered how to better engage the community by enhancing the building floorplan and exterior areas.

During this process, it became evident that the clearly delineated route to the front of the sanctuary was lacking, and opportunities for interaction before reaching the front door were limited. Based on these initial findings, the team creatively reimagined the approach. They introduced a clearly defined path to the front, incorporated large new shade elements for community and member gatherings, added elevated and mixed seating areas, enhanced the landscape, and generated synergy by converting one of the perimeter rooms to provide direct access to the outdoor space.

This development project is truly unique and speaks to Arizona State University's desire to make a positive impact in Tempe. We are proud to be a design partner at work on Novus Innovation Corridor.

Dozens of restaurants and stores planned for new ASU district The idea is to create a walkable collection of offices, housing, retail and restaurants to complete the ring of development around Tempe Butte.
