West Fork, a hike for all seasons…

It’s one of those places that let you connect to the macro and the micro, all while wondering as you wander your place in space.

Everyone I spoke to about this trip mentioned how they “really love it in Fall”.
Which is fair, its absolutely gorgeous with the array of colors, the crisp fresh air, and the sojourn into the classic Fall visuals that we Phoenicians just dont experience during “Fall”.

Winter is amazing for the witnessing of the snow and icicles. Im always awe inspired when I see those long icicles creating micro cracks in the stones. That slow steady expansion that allows water to cut through rock. Reminds me so much of my work.

Summer is great because it’s green and warm but the water is chilly and ticklish. The trail is also incredibly busy with parents of young kiddos.

Which is actually how I came to even know West Fork existed. A sister in love was visiting from California and insisted we visit Sedona to do this hike.

We were unprepared, no change of clothes/shoes for the kiddos, no snacks, no hiking poles and no idea how long this hike truly was. This trip I only forgot the hiking poles…guess I’ll have to do it again soon 😜
