Hava Java Phoenix

On this day, January 27, 32 years ago, I found myself standing on the very spot where Hava Java's front patio stands today. I had set up a coffee cart, which I had personally built and brought down from Seattle, and proceeded to sell the very first Hava Java coffee. Back then, lattes went for about two bucks, and I managed to do $60 worth of business that day, which left me quite content. For the most part, I ran the cart alone, working 12 hours a day, seven days a week, for 2 1/2 years before finally hiring my first employee. This milestone allowed me to take a well-deserved week-long vacation. At the time, I was 28 years old and sported a mullet 😆

I'm grateful to all of our wonderful customers. And to our staff over the years for maintaining the tradition of exceptional coffee, community, and unparalleled customer service – and for not sporting mullets!
