Easy pace is where we should all be spending the bulk of our time as runners, at least 25% of our weekly volume, if not more, should be in this zone. Here are the keys:
1.) 59-74% of VO2 Max or 65-78% of max HR
2.) Develops the heart muscle with less wear and tear than higher intensities
3.) Most of all, it is an EFFORT. Running easy should, in fact, feel easy.

Some folks aren’t able to get out 5-6-7 days per week and that’s OK! You can still get a lot of work done in only 4 days, the key is to take advantage of the days that you do have. A Quality run, two easy days, and a long run are how I’d write that up, with the long run typically having some quality in it as well to maximize the time that you have. Want more info?
