AZ Prussian Snailhound Dog Rescue

Casa de Snailhound welcomes Cornelia! AKA Corn dog 🌽 🐶 😂 In 2023 Pinal County animal control took her from a 150 dog hoarding situation. She spent 9 months in the shelter before getting into a foster home for a year. Then she ended up back at the shelter because she never really warmed up to people and became extremely withdrawn after the family’s other dog passed away. We know just how to handle dogs who love other dogs, but are afraid of people, so even though we are moving soon and have no business bringing in another dog while the house is up for sale, I could not resist when this sweetie hit the e-list. We already love her so much! ❤️🥰

Oh no! Casa de Snailhound has been infested with bed pugs! 😂 Sorry to disappoint, but these sweeties aren’t available for adoption. We were just watching them for a friend. Best day ever!

Hey everyone! I know it’s been a long time since I have posted here. Lots has been going on, and I’ve been enjoying time with my dogs and children without bringing any newbies in. Rescue can be a lot of work and also emotionally draining so I’ve slowly been taking some steps back. My friend has been fostering a little girl who was rescued from a puppy mill by Freedom Frenchie Rescue. I agreed to watch her while my friend was out of town. I’ve always loved small, smushed-faced dogs. Who could resist this face? And she gets along great with all of the Snailhounds! So for the first time in about 20 years, I’ve adopted a dog! 😂 Welcome to the family Pollywog! We’ve evolved from snails to amphibians. 😂 🐌 🐸

Today we had to say goodbye to a very special girl. Macy came to us with her three brothers in the summer of 2010. They were about five months old and literally covered in ticks. They came from the Indian reservation, and while the boys had no issues with anyone, a man must have been very mean to Macy at some point because she wanted nothing to do with men. She was adopted twice to nice families where the dads were committed to making things work with her, but despite their efforts, she wouldn’t warm up. So she ended up staying with us, and she has literally barked at my husband every time he has walked into the room for nearly the past 14 years. Other than that, she has been the absolute perfect girl! Very well-behaved, and bossy enough to keep the other dogs in line, but never mean. She’s helped socialize hundreds of puppies, and she’s enjoyed status as the alpha dog here for over four years. I’ve loved her with all my heart! She’s got plenty of friends waiting to greet her at the rainbow bridge! 🌈 💔😭
