Block play is an important part of our day at the ELC.
Every age group utilizes blocks and accessories to play and learn with at their developmental stage.

🫱🏼‍🫲🏾The block area provides lots of opportunities for children of all ages to practice important social skills such as taking turns, receptive and expressive language, and cooperating with others.

🧮Spatial sense, measurement, comparison and estimation, and shape identification are all mathematic concepts that are used while playing with blocks, cars, and other building materials.

🧱Fine and gross motor skills are also strengthened as they use Legos, magnetic tiles, and other interlocking materials. Children are continually expanding their attention, persistence, and problem solving as they work out how to build creations according to their imagined plan.

🗣️The block area is also a space where teachers have the opportunity to engage in language modeling through describing what children are building, how they are doing it, and asking age appropriate open-ended questions.

A busy fine motor area is one of our favorite things to see in the toddler room.
Building those little hand muscles, attention span, and cause/effect experiences one day at a time.

Our annual Art Show is this Friday! Join us for gallery style viewing of artwork from each of our age groups, hands on art experiences, inflatable slide, ice cream and more! This is a free family event, all are welcome!
