Leon Haynes, 52, of Teaneck, has been sentenced to 144 months (12 years) in federal prison after pulling off the largest COVID-19 tax relief fraud trial conviction in the U.S. to date.

Prosecutors say Haynes filed over 1,900 false tax returns, trying to secure more than $170 MILLION in fraudulent refunds, and actually got away with $55 MILLION+ 💰🤯

Officials didn’t hold back, saying he treated pandemic relief programs like a “personal cash machine.”

On top of the prison time, he’s been ordered to pay back $55M+ in restitution and will face 5 years of supervised release.
