Athletes and folks with a higher training age will adapt to training quicker.

Non athletes and folks with a lower training age will take a little longer to adapt to training.

Ever chatted with someone who got into a fitness routine that worked until it didn’t?

Usually these folks started something new but kept it exactly the same for well over four weeks, and after they adapted to the stress of it they didn’t change any aspects of the stressor.

Every four weeks or so (depending on the population, goals, and training experience) you look at how training is going and how you or the person you are training is responding to it.

Then you fart around with variables like; volume, load, rest periods, etc to keep the training train going!

Check out SAID (specific adaptation to imposed demand) principles for more context.

Throwback Thursday to in Chicago!

Learned a s**t ton working in a big box gym and it was the perfect time in my life to do it (shout out to for recommending this post PSU KINES).

Made lifelong friendships which is the best part.

One thing I recommend to folks looking to start out in the fitness industry, is to work at a big box gym for a least a year, you will get s**t loads of reps and learn a ton.

(Still have my trainer and plus trainer shirts and tank tops, still can’t believe it’s been close to a decade!)
