Designed for Dads: The Power of Fathers in Early Literacy & How to Engage Them

Dads matter. Uncles matter. Granddads matter. And when the men in a child's life lean into reading everything changes.

We're sitting down with John Butler, Philly author, educator, and Reading Captain, to talk about one of the most underutilized forces in children's literacy: the fathers and father figures already in our communities.

We'll dig into why dad engagement often gets overlooked, what the research actually says about men and reading aloud, common stereotypes holding us back, and most importantly what we can do right now to bring more dads into literacy.

Whether you're a teacher, a family engagement specialist, a librarian, or just someone who believes every Philly kid deserves a real shot at reading, join us.
