We’d like to extend our thanks to Pendle Hill for sponsoring the 2026 Gathering. Pendle Hill is a Quaker center that fosters Spirit-led learning, retreat, and community outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. When we asked Pendle Hill staff how long they have been associated with FGC or with the Gathering, they said: “Longer than anyone remembers!”

There are many ways to connect to Pendle Hill. You are always welcome to schedule a personal sojourn and stay on campus for writing, contemplation, or renewal. You can also join worship from home at their daily hybrid worship. For programming, check out Dreaming Sanctuary in August. Dreaming Sanctuary is an intergenerational LGBTQ+ gathering for renewal. And in the fall, Pendle Hill will host a seven-week course about teaching the fundamentals of Quaker faith and practice, which is online.

Pendle Hill staff thrive at hospitality, and they’d love to host you on campus sometime soon!

Thank you to Friends House for sponsoring the 2026 Gathering of Friends! Friends House is a Quaker retirement community in Santa Rosa, California, a place where older adults live simply, care for one another, and continue to grow in spirit. Friends House has been rooted in Quaker tradition since its founding, and many of its residents grew up attending the FGC Gathering each year.

Friends House extends this invitation to all Friends: “Come visit us if you're ever in Sonoma County. We mean that genuinely.” You can also find them at friendshouse.org. They love hearing from Friends who want to know more, ask questions, or just stay in touch.”

Sometimes the Gathering draws together special moments across generations. The other day at lunch, this young person ran under the bike racks that stretched from one end of the building to the other. The bike racks made a long, collective tunnel, and the runner dashed through them as if they were a playground. He had such a big grin, and it was such an unusual sight, that adults eating nearby stepped up from lunch to cheer him on.

FGC staff asked the kid and his parent about what inspired the run. He was getting ready for a competition with his cousins! After multiple runs, his personal best was 12.8 seconds. Hooray for creative play!
