St. Matthew Parish - Mayfair

There are several important summer announcements for our Saint Matthew Parish community. These have been communicated at weekend Masses, and in our bulletin, for several weeks. Please make sure you take a look.
The long-anticipated painting project of the upper church begins tomorrow!

Today was the last day of school for our Saint Matthew School students! The entire school attended Mass together, and celebrated the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Father Welsh taught everyone a small prayer that his Mom prayed and taught him as a child, “O Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place my trust in you.”
Happy summer, Saint Matt’s!

Happy ! Vader can not believe it's the last day of school at Saint Matthew today! Please pray for all of our young people, their teachers and their administrators, that they have a restful and safe summer vacation!
Tomorrow, all of our youth groups will attend the 4:30PM Vigil Mass to pray together. Then, we will have a Youth Appreciation party for all of our young people who have done service for the Parish as altar servers, choir members, or youth group members. Keep them in your prayers. On Sunday, we will have Mass at 7AM, 9AM, 11AM and 7PM. Come and pray with us! This is our last weekend in the upper church before we move to the lower church for the summer for the painting project. It's a very exciting time for our Parish.
Enjoy the weekend, Saint Matt's! Stay cool!

Last weekend, Saint Matthew Parish was happy to have the Christ in the City missionaries speak at all of the Masses. For those who may not know, Christ in the City is a missionary non-profit organization primarily involved with homeless outreach in Center City Philadelphia.
As the missionaries shared at Masses last weekend though, Saint Teresa of Calcutta famously shared that the poverty of the West is loneliness. Christ in the City is looking to expand their missionary work, and is reaching out to our Saint Matthew community to see if anyone is interested in being a part of this work. Even though many of the missionaries you met last weekend are very young, this call for volunteers is NOT limited to just college aged students. This is a call for any interested adult who may want to visit those in nursing home, shelters, or jails.
If you are open to a discussion about this type of service, please fill out this interest form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfd0RH8KtDSbUHey4gjeJ1ro-ZXnVwGIUawLAkQ0uDI9iDvhg/viewform
Filling the form out is not a commitment: it just lets the missionaries know you may be open to this type of volunteer work. We will have an interest night at Saint Matthew Parish on Wednesday, June 24th in the rectory basement. God bless!
