Philly’s Avenue the Arts is now home to 36 new large-scale banners with artwork created by nine local artists: , , , , , , , .garden, and ! Banners will be up for about a year.

Had this thought the other day when I was walking by one at Broad and Pine and it made me giggle–then I immediately started wondering if there’s some truth to it. I mean, Inflatable Union Rat might be more famous than the Rocky statue. It’s ubiquitous. It’s a work of protest art that has traveled the city for decades! Maybe one day it will have its own PMA-themed show too!?
