Trauma bonds are real. ❤️

Penny came from a place of unimaginable neglect, fear, and uncertainty. Through it all, she found comfort in the cats she shared that experience with.

Today, One Eyed W***y (orange) and Captain Jack (black) left for their foster home to begin the next chapter of their journey. Before they left, Penny made sure to check on them one last time. She gently kissed them goodbye, as if she knew exactly what was happening.

It’s impossible to know everything these animals have endured, but moments like this remind us how deeply they feel, how strongly they connect, and how much love they still have to give despite everything they’ve been through.

We’re so grateful that One Eyed W***y and Captain Jack are headed to safety and love, and we can’t wait to watch them thrive. Penny got her turn too. Tonight she also left for foster care. 🖤🧡

Stay tuned for the last two cats that were rescued from the house who arrived with us today.Their stories are just beginning, and we can’t wait to introduce them to all of you. Today, Penny left behind a life of filth, neglect, and unimaginable conditions and took her first steps toward safety, love, and a brighter future. We don’t know her name, so we are starting with Penny

Despite everything she has endured, the sweetest part came almost immediately. As soon as she heard the cats rescued from the same property, she gravitated toward them. After all she has been through, she was searching for something familiar, something that reminded her she wasn’t alone.

For now, Penny will decompress, receive the veterinary care she needs, and finally experience what it feels like to be safe. As we learn more about her and help her heal, we’ll share updates on her journey. When she’s ready, Penny will be available for adoption.

Today, we’re simply grateful she’s out.

Blue was taken in by Fishtails on February 24. She was covered in sores, infested with fleas, and showed signs of being forced to live in her own waste. No cat should have to endure such trauma and neglect, especially Blue, who was not a stray found on the street, but a family pet of over 10 years. Blue was ignored, neglected, and, ultimately, dumped at the shelter.

Blue is a strong lady whose resilience can be a lesson for us all. Now that she has had the time to recuperate with one of our loving fosters, Blue has learned to cat again. She enjoys her feather toy, loves wet food, and is crazy for catnip. Blue warms up as she gets to know you, and then goes all in, on her terms. Blue is likely best suited as your one and only. After what she experienced, we understand.
