I ran the half marathon this past weekend 🏃🏽‍♂️😅 🙌. I did it before yet, it was extra special this time because there were special people with me… and accomplishing this feat this go-round felt like a proper way to commemorate this new chapter of life I find myself in. Throughout the 2:07:54 time it took me to get to the finish line, a few lessons became clearer along the way:

Empathy. People are fighting their own battles. Don’t get mad at them when they’re in your way. Go around them. Or thru them.

There will be rocks in the way. Point them out for those around you. Kick ‘em to the side if they haven’t been already.

Get out of your mind. Focus on running.

It’s okay to walk sometimes. Rest/recovery is important. Yet make up time if you can.

Enjoy the scenery.

It helps to have an opponent. The best opponent is yourself. Otherwise, pick someone ahead of you to beat.

Don’t get distracted like those next to you. Don’t chase ass. Chase goals. Especially when they’re not at the same pace as you. It’ll just slow you down.

Find your own lane. The main ones are all taken.

Some people stink. It’s just the way it is. Move past it.

If you drop something important, pick it back up immediately. Otherwise, it will be left behind; at least in this lifetime.

You will finish amongst the best of ‘em, only if you keep up.

Stamina is everything. Not the optics.

There will be those who fall around you. Can’t help everyone. Keep going.

One of life’s greatest lessons is that people can only meet you where they are, psychologically and emotionally. Not where you wish them to be. -

How real, rare and raw are you; if you can’t feel or care about the raw truth? 👁️𓂀👁️

Step away from people you no longer resonate with, be it friends or lovers. The world soon opens up to those more in tune, you’ll soon discover. It’s alarming at first, because you’re so used to each other. Yet on the other side of the pain of righteous change is joy and wonder.
