Bottoms Up is a lavishly designed, mid-century cocktail book authored by Ted Saucier, a publicist with the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. This elaborate book highlights 780 of the finest cocktail recipes, well detailed and interspersed with stories of their origin. In addition, there are 12 full page color cocktail inspired pinup illustrations by twelve of America's most distinguished artists of the time, including Arthur William Brown, Gilbert Bundy, James Montgomery Flagg, Robert Bushnell and Al Dome, former president of the Society of illustrators. Also included are many risqué marginal decorations by Russell Patterson. This title also features many facets of preparing and serving drinks, sections for a glossary of bar terms, Baccarat glassware chart, Tippling Tips, Wining and Dining by Claude C. Philippe, Vintage Wine Chart, Cocktail and Mixed Drinks A-Z, Cocktail Appetizers, Correct service of Wine With Foods, and a list of national toasts of 38 countries. This first printing is inscribed by Ted Saucier on the half title page, "And best wishes to The Millers, Ted Saucier Xmas/51." A scarce, complete inscribed first edition, with original scarce slipcase, original acetate dust cover and descriptive bookmark laid in. A near fine complete first printing.

Marye Dahnke was the marketing and culinary force that turned Kraft Mac and Cheese into a cultural icon. She also had many great cheese recipes of her own here in this book.

Marye Dahnke was one of the first female Home Economist and Director of the Consumer Service Department for Kraft Foods and was an early female food marketer, promoting cheese by hosting "Cheese Talks" throughout the country. She authored two books, including this one, as well as many pamphlets for Kraft on cheeses. The Cheese Cookbook combines unique cheese recipes with detailed directions. It lists popular cheeses and their uses, helpful hints to remember and recipes for every meal of the day, including desserts. A well-compiled and focused mid-century title on cheese, signed on the front free endpaper by the author. Complete and in very good condition.
