Women In Architecture Philadelphia - WIA
09/03/2020
Please join us Friday, September 11 for a COFFEE AND CONNECT with Kelly Hayes McAlonie, FAIA, Director of Campus Planning at University at Buffalo, who has served as a biographer and champion of Louise Blanchard Bethune's legacy for years.
Louise Blanchard Bethune (1856–1913) is widely considered to be the first woman to practice as a professional architect in the United States. She participated in the design of approximately one hundred fifty buildings in the Buffalo and New England areas in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and was also the first woman member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the first woman to be honored as an AIA Fellow.

We need YOU design professionals!
PATINA our interactive mentorship program that pairs design professionals with female high school students is seeking mentors for our upcoming speed mentoring event - this is a rapid fire meet and greet with female CHAD (Charter High School for Architecture and Design) students who are interested in pursing a career in design, very similar to the Speed Mentoring event that WIA hosts.
It’s a terrific forum for students to inquire about your path to design, get some pointers, and make a lasting connection. We are looking for Mentors – no prior experience necessary!
When: Friday March 20th
Time Commitment: Extended Lunch Time (12pm-2pm)
Where: CHAD – 105 S 7th Street
Volunteer Opportunities: All hands on deck!
Interested? Please email [email protected] (also please add this email to your contacts) by Monday March 3rd or sooner! Please include a head shot and a very brief bio (50 words max). Thank you, and we hope you can make it!
