The Movement Philly
Happy 4th everyone!
As we reflect on this country and the rich history these past 250 years have given us, we would be remiss not to give Philadelphia its due respect.
One of the oldest cities in America, Philadelphia is the original National Capital of the USA. The Suffrage movement has its roots in Philadelphia, as does the abolitionist Movement. The early 1900’s saw Philadelphia as an anchor in the Black Liberation Movement with the UNIA convention 1919 and their headquarters located in philly to this day.
It is in this spirit we named our store THE MOVEMENT. Owing to the rich history of early American Black owned businesses that flourished in Philadelphia from The early 1900’s. Even our national Black Greek organizations find their headquarters in Philly like Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity inc.
In fact the oldest Black church In America has its roots in Philadelphia, The A.M.E. Church.
Later on, Daddy Grace and Father Divine, Reverend Ike had huge followings in Philadelphia.
So, at The Movement, we are a continuation of the history makers that shape tomorrow. We are a village of Black hands. Makers and creatives who hail from all over America that make all the beautiful items you see inside our space. In a world filled with cheap imported products with no soul, we are a space filled with handmade products from USA where the main ingredient is ❤️ LOVE.
This is what sets us apart from all other spaces.
We hope you play your part in making history and helping The Movement grow and become a space with a larger impact and a greater reach.
Our mantra is simple.
“We’re all we got. We’re all we need “.

The City of Philadelphia already loves and respects Jaylen Brown. At The Movement, we are thrilled beyond words to have such a man whose talents extend beyond having a wicked jump shot. His dedication and intelligence shown on and off the court make him so attractive to the Philly fan base. We look forward to having Jaylen use Philly as his sounding board. He deserves the respect he has earned. Round of applause to our New front office team for making him a Sixer.
