Philly Housewarmng RSVP 07/12/2016

Democracy Spring is in town!!

We just moved into our Philly movement house and wanted to invite you to warm the place up with us and plug into the work we are doing in preparation for the DNC action.

Join us this Friday the 15th at 5:30 at our place near University City. Turn out, turn up!

This’ll be a great opportunity to get to know other Philly activists, both from Democracy Spring and other local organizations that we’re coordinating with for the convention. It’ll also be a time to discuss next steps for the campaign and to bring onboard anyone who is interested in volunteer roles that are the backbone of this movement. We need folks with many different skill sets in order to pull this off.

Whether you’re a great writer, a graphic designer, logistics fiend, caretaker, or just ready to throw down for the cause in whatever way you can, the movement needs you!

Our address is 3730 Brandywine Street, Philadelphia (we have free street parking).

Hope to see you soon! Please RSVP here to let us know you’re coming.

Miss New Jersey Talks Politics 04/09/2016

"Our nation lacks a protest culture, allowing our government to legislate against our interests with no remorse, fostering socioeconomic inequality. Our public is largely ignorant that the people do not answer to the government, the government answers to the people. In solidarity, we hold the power to change the system. Mass mobilization facilitates change. Let's start acting on it."

Philadelphia, PA Bus 04/06/2016

Hello Democracy Spring Supporters!
Thanks to all of you who came out this weekend to support our kick off rally in Philadelphia.
For those of you still looking for a way to get to DC for the first day of protests, we're working on a shared bus ride down to DC. We need to gauge interest for a shared bus ride to DC on Monday April 11, which would cost approximately $20 round trip. Please email Bo Dirnbach ([email protected]) if you're interested in this transportation option, which would (tentatively) leave Philadelphia on the morning of April 11th and return in the evening of that same day. (We haven't nailed down all the details on departure, since it depends to some extent on the feedback we get from this email!)
As another way of supporting Democracy Spring's commitments to campaign finance reform, we have information on how to participate in Democracy Awakening. On Sunday, April 17, a bus is traveling to Washington D.C. from Philadelphia, for the Democracy Awakening Rally. The bus will depart from 2301 W Oregon Ave Philadelphia, PA 19107 at 8:30 a.m. and will return at 7:30 p.m., that evening. The Democracy Awakening weekend mobilization will happen at the end of Democracy Spring and we’re trying to fill the bus and get another. You can purchase your ticket at this link http://democracyawakening.nationbuilder.com/philadelphiapabus
Thanks so much for everything you do, it's been amazing to see this movement come together in the last few weeks, let's keep it going to effect real change in getting money out of politics.

Support Our Marchers! 04/06/2016

As we speak, people are nearly 1/3 of the way on their march to Washington, DC. I walked out of the city with them on Day 1, and I can tell you it's not easy. For them to be in this for a full 10 day, 140 mile journey is incredible and grueling. Not one of them will be the same person when they get to DC as they were when they left Philly. And each of them knows that each step is not their own, but in honor and support of thousands of others around the country who simply could not join them.

I donated today to support their logistics, to help them buy food to fuel them along the way, to help with the costs of getting over 100 people to weather that trek. If you can give any amount, please do. It's going directly to this effort that leads to the largest act of civil disobedience this century.
