Have you heard of Elon Musk’s idea of sending data centers into space? I looked into it, and it’s worthless. Here’s why!

1. AI Datacenters dwarf the International Space Station in size. That’s a technical challenge. The ISS is half a football field in size. Your average datacenter is 1.5 football fields and the new one in Michigan is 190!!!

2. Meanwhile, the ISS is only capable of producing the same energy as A SINGLE CAR ENGINE lol. So how do we get the parts in space for something that will need a GREAT deal more energy?

3. We don’t. It’s impossibly expensive. Google is looking into to it, too, though.

3. The tech for any of this is years and years and years away, but Elon Musk is talking like this is 2-3 years in the future.

4. So many riddles still to solve. Like the constant maintenance of AI centers. How would we accomplish that in space?

5. I feel like clever people are drawn in by charlatans like Musk because his ideas SOUND futuristic, exciting, and good on paper, but just a little digging and that’s all they are: ad jingles.

UPDATE: STRUGGLING over here to get our new stray accepted into our cat pack. Could use any tips!! I’ve only ever rescued kittens before, but this 1 yo orange guy with a broken tail (born that way, the vet said) strolled up to our back door about two months ago and right into our hearts. Well, not all our hearts…. He and Charlie had a very minor skirmish after things like supervised snack time seemed like they were going well a while back, and I let Brokentail roam a bit… there was a hissing match, some paws thrown, no one was hurt but Charlie cordially hates Brokentail’s guts now as you can hear. He won’t even come upstairs anymore, and I really miss his snuggles at night. Meanwhile, Brokentail is confined to my daughter’s room and the upstairs bathroom, but Charlie is not the bravest or the brightest. The sweetest and gentlest, yes! He has no fight in him and Brokentail was ready to GO Philly-style— the streets BK hails from. Charlie the pampered rag doll prince was HORRIFIED. Hoping things like snack time might help Charlie get over that incident. Any other tips? We have four other cats, but Charlie is the most anti-Brokentail.
