Belarus Freedom - Philadelphia Appeals for the Release of All Political Prisoners in Belarus

Belarus FREEDOM-Philadelphia has officially sent a request to John P. Coale ahead of his reported visit to Belarus. We would like to use this opportunity to ask him to deliver a message from the Belarusian community of Philadelphia to Belarusian authorities: free all political prisoners in Belarus.

Hundreds of Belarusians remain imprisoned simply for expressing their views and calling for democratic change. Among them are people personally known to our community, including the musicians of TOR BAND and blogger Uladzimir Tsyhanovich.

They are not criminals. They are symbols of the courage and resilience of the Belarusian people. Today they remain separated from their families and loved ones simply for standing up for freedom.

We hope that this visit can become an opportunity to raise these cases and remind the authorities that the world has not forgotten the people imprisoned for their beliefs.

Freedom for political prisoners. Freedom for Belarus.

Сёння, у нядзелю 1 сакавіка, суполка Belarus Freedom - Philadelphia падтрымала сваіх сяброў — украінскую дыяспару ў Філадэльфіі In Unity UA — і далучылася да «Маршу супраць расейскага ўварвання ва Украіну».

Выказваем шчырую падзяку Ганароваму консулу Украіны Ірыне Мазур за запрашэнне. Мы заўсёды гатовыя быць разам — і ў добрыя, і ў цяжкія часы.

Прыхільнікі Украіны сабраліся каля Philadelphia Museum of Art і прайшлі маршам да Philadelphia City Hall, адзначаючы 12 гадоў расейскай агрэсіі супраць Украіны. Гэтая вайна застаецца найбуйнейшым і самым смяротным канфліктам у Еўропе з часоў Другой Cусветнай вайны.

Пайшоў 13-ы год супраціву і пяты год поўнамаштабнага расейскага ўварвання. Адважныя ўкраінцы працягваюць змагацца за сваю свабоду, суверэнітэт і бяспеку ўсяго дэмакратычнага свету.

Удзельнікі маршу патрабавалі мацнейшай падтрымкі Украіны і ўшанавалі тых, хто ахвяраваў усім у гэтай барацьбе за свабоду.



Today, on Sunday, March 1st, Belarus Freedom - Philadelphia stood in solidarity with our friends from the Ukrainian diaspora in Philadelphia, In Unity UA, and joined the “March against russia’s invasion of Ukraine.”

We sincerely thank Honorary Consul of Ukraine Iryna Mazur for the invitation. We are always ready to stand together — in both good times and difficult ones.

Supporters of Ukraine from across the U.S. gathered at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and marched to Philadelphia City Hall, marking 12 years of russian invasion of Ukraine. This war remains Europe’s largest and deadliest conflict since World War II.

Ukraine enters its 13th year of resistance and the fifth year of the full-scale invasion. Brave Ukrainians continue to fight for their freedom, sovereignty, and the security of the entire democratic world.

Participants of the march demanded stronger support for Ukraine and honored those who have sacrificed everything in this fight for freedom.

Мы ўдзячныя кангрэсмэну Браяну Фіцпатрыку Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick за адкрытасць і ўвагу да праблем беларускай суполкі.

Падчас нядаўняй сустрэчы з прадстаўнікамі Belarus Freedom – Philadelphia кангрэсмэн Фіцпатрык выказаў зацікаўленасць у супрацоўніцтве і падтрымцы беларусаў у ЗША. Мы распавялі пра дзейнасць суполкі, адзначылі асноўныя праблемы, якія хвалююць беларусаў, і падзяліліся нашымі ініцыятывамі.

Сярод абмеркаваных тэм — становішча беларускіх палітвязняў, праблемы імігрантаў і асоб, якія шукаюць прытулак, санкцыйная палітыка ЗША ў дачыненні да рэжыму ў Беларусі, а таксама захаванне і распаўсюд беларускай культуры.

Мы шчыра дзякуем кангрэсмэну Браяну Фіцпатрыку і супрацоўнікам яго офіса за адкрытасць да дыялогу, эфектыўную камунікацыю і прафесіяналізм.

Спадзяемся, што гэтая сустрэча стане асновай для далейшага канструктыўнага супрацоўніцтва дзеля падтрымкі беларусаў і агульных каштоўнасцяў — свабоды і годнасці.

We are grateful to Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick for his openness and attention to the concerns of the Belarusian community.

During a recent meeting with representatives of Belarus Freedom – Philadelphia, Congressman Fitzpatrick expressed interest in cooperation and support for Belarusians in the United States. We shared information about our community’s activities, highlighted key issues that affect Belarusians, and presented our ongoing initiatives.

Among the topics discussed were the situation of Belarusian political prisoners, challenges faced by immigrants and asylum seekers, U.S. sanctions policy toward the regime in Belarus, as well as the preservation and promotion of Belarusian culture.
We sincerely thank Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick and the members of his office for their openness to dialogue, effective communication, and professionalism.

We hope this meeting will serve as a foundation for continued constructive cooperation in supporting Belarusians and promoting our shared values — freedom and dignity.
