Our Founder and CEO, Dr. Ariel Lajara was honored with the Administrator of the Year award from the Pennsylvania Association of Hispanic School Administrators; a recognition that honors the resilience and brilliance of every student, teacher, and family he’s had the privilege to serve in his 20+ year career. In his speech, he shared his truth shaped by two powerful women in his life—his mother and high school teacher—who taught him, in different languages, the same lesson: Never let desperation change your destination; the theme of his speech.

As Hispanic leaders, we carry generations of grit and love, and we’re not here to maintain broken systems—we’re here to transform them. A reminder to all that our students don’t need pity; they need power, belonging, and schools that prepare the world for them.

Mr. Ariel Lajara, CEO of Elevate Higher was honored with the 2023 Most Influential Latino Leader Award. He promises to carry this award as a reminder of the responsibility that comes with it.
