Got plans this Thursday, May 21 at 4? If not, hang with us at 920 Market Street—Persimmon is popping up at Two Persons!

✌️

We’re returning to our roots and super stoked to collaborate with our wonderful friends to host a free coffee cupping event. Learn how to evaluate coffee quality, meet fellow coffee nerds, and be prepared to get a little over-caffeinated. No experience necessary! All are welcome!

We love our neighbors, we love our city, and we are in solidarity with all immigrants. As a small business, we’ve decided to open today to support a team that depends on us and to provide a space of warmth and comfort for our community.

We’ll be donating 50% of our gross sales today to and , two organizations based in Philly that are fighting fervently to protect immigrants against unprecedented ICE violence and build long-term safety, dignity, and justice for everyone. If you’re stopping by on the way to or from protesting, let us know—we’ll give you a cup of drip coffee. If you do plan on supporting us today, we encourage you to use cash instead of credit.

Though we know there is no perfect solution, we believe that every action and every intention to care matters. We are committed to showing up for our most vulnerable neighbors not just today, but always.

Merry Christmas ⭐️ We’re celebrating five years of Persimmon today and reflecting on our special little journey.

We launched our business on Christmas Day in 2020 as a gift to our loved ones. What began as a pandemic passion project slowly transformed into a mobile pop-up that we operated for over a year and a half with our trusty Rocket, from Queen Village to University City. Shout-outs to and .coffee 🧡 We still laugh about how we somehow managed to run our very first one in below-freezing weather with two Zojirushi carafes of drip coffee and a small space heater to defrost our toes. We eventually opened our very own café in the summer of 2022, backed by the love and support of a gracious community around us.

Transparently, we’ve endured some pretty tough times since then… moments when we truly wondered if it was possible to keep Persimmon going. But our dear friends and family came through for us again, and again, and again. So we’re here today, standing stronger than ever. We recently shared with each other about what motivates us and how we’ll continue to build Persimmon, and we realized that the people we serve are at the core of why we are in this business. To be able to serve our team, our customers, and our Fishtown neighbors well—that’s what matters most to us, and what will give us purpose as we navigate all that’s to come. Our journey here has been nothing short of a miracle. Persimmon started as a gift to others, and it has now become a gift to us.

We’ll end with this: every day, we’re inspired by our team. By their diligence, humility, expertise, and contagious compassion for every single person who steps into our space, regardless of who they are. To Bryant, Ashton, Brian, and everyone else who’s helped us stay afloat—thank you, from the bottom of our hearts. You keep us going.

With gratitude,
Sawyer & Chaereen

Holiday labels, multiple offerings, and a bean bundle discount for the month of December… ☃️

We’ve brought back our favorite coffees from this year—Colombia Taiyo and Ethiopia Maeum—in addition to a new natural offering, Rwanda Noon. Named after the Korean word for snow (눈), this delightful coffee comes from the Women’s Coffee Extension Kawa Yacu, a special division of the Mbizi Washing Station that was created for female specialty coffee producers to have a stronger voice in Rwanda’s coffee production.

Until the end of the year, we’ll give you a $2 discount on each bag of whole beans on purchases of two bags or more. You’ll get free shipping, too! Use code BUNDLEOFBEANS at checkout on our website. At the shop, our team will be ready to help. Offer ends December 31.

Happy gifting, and stay warm out there!
