Beige is Beautiful

Finally, after a couple failed attempts to get black acrylic glass it finally arrived! Gladly, the old Gateway case has an adjustable card cage so I was able to install the glass, the lighting and a few layers of packing tape over the LEDs so the motherboard could be mounted on strong double-sided tape and have it all still fit comfortably. Gotta do the sound card tonight and start finish work. I also have to check with the metal guys who were cutting a nice window hole on the old case cover.

With my motherboard backlighting project I got the donor LCD monitor yesterday for $5. I'm using the backlighting plastic screen to create and even glow through my Pentium 1 motherboard. I used the original long tube lights to try out but I think they're not bright enough and get pretty warm. Tonight I'm going to try the LED strip lights through the sides of the glass to see if I get a brighter result. I think I will! It will also be cooler and not need an augmented power supply to run the lights that came with the monitor. Also, using the strip light means I can cut down some of the glass from another monitor for the sound card to glow too.
