This PA weather leading into Memorial Day doesn’t have anyone thinking of sunscreen 🥶… but I have hope! 😎☀️

Now you have time to sort through your current sunscreen stash and be prepared with safer, cleaner, HEALTH PROMOTING sunscreens.

Our skin is the most absorbent organ on our body. Whatever you put on it will get sucked right in to your body. Especially when your pores are open and you’re sweating and it’s hot out.

By avoiding commercial brand, standard sunscreens, you’re avoiding ingredients that
☀️disrupt your hormones (think male/female s*x, stress, thyroid hormones)
☀️cause you to gain more or hold onto fat
☀️lead to future reproductive damage and decreased fertility
☀️increase risk of cancer despite thinking you’re protecting yourselves from cancer with SPF

If you’re overwhelmed with reading ingredients… just start with a “mineral” sunscreen. Then move towards avoiding most brands you see marketed like 🍌🛶, C0ppert0ne, Hawaiian 🌴, Neutrogen@, and so on.

P.S. I see so many parents use the clean stuff on their kids and throw whatever is left on themselves… but remember to take care of yourself too! You’re the reason you have a family, nurture your future health just like you do for the kids.

It’s like pure energy in a glass. For reals.
🧡
An adrenal cocktail is made up of ingredients to replenish your minerals and fuel your adrenal glands to ensure your body can handle stress and maintain energy levels.
🧡
4oz coconut water (high in potassium)
4oz orange juice (food-based vitamin c)
Hefty pinch to 1/4 lol lol z tsp of sea salt (rich sodium & trace mineral source)
🧡
Remember your body burns through minerals when stressed? The first ones to go are sodium and potassium. If you don’t replenish these minerals, your body starts to use up other minerals instead like magnesium, zinc, and calcium-which we don’t want to happen.
🧡
Your adrenal glands contain the highest concentration of vitamin C stores. These small, triangular organs sit above your kidneys and are responsible for energy levels, making & balancing certain hormones, helping to balance blood sugar, and maintaining mineral levels.
🧡
The main hormone our adrenals are most known for is cortisol, aka the “stress” hormone. Adequate amounts of vitamin c make sure we can produce cortisol. Then there’s a fine balance between sodium, potassium AND vitamin c levels to manage how long cortisol sticks around, preventing excess mineral loss via kidneys, avoiding burnout symptoms and helping with how your body deals with stressful situations.
🧡
Try an adrenal cocktail daily between 10am-3pm to help with that afternoon slump we often get and to not feel so stressed out at the end of the day… you’ll be glad you read this post!

🧡P.S. I add milk or heavy cream to mine to give it an orange creamsicle 🍦taste BUT mostly to balance my blood sugar with a mix of carbs, fats, and protein 🧡

When are we going to realize that it’s not fad diets and trends we need to bring back health? It’s ancestral eating! Eating the way our great-great grandparents ate. Eating the way that surviving tribal cultures still eat.

🥩Use the whole animal
🌱Eat seasonal produce
💎Mineral-rich, nutrient-dense foods
🫧Foods that are fermented or sprouted
❌Nothing processed

Whole. Real. Food.

As a mom, I’m constantly analyzing the food I give my family. And I’ve found that ancestral eating has actually been the simplest and easiest (and least complaints 😂) for our household.

There are no strict rules, no extensive “avoid” lists. And these don’t have to be incorporated every single day.

The one thing you have to ask yourself is, “Would my great-great grandmother have cooked with this? Or was this available for her to eat?

You all know I love to say “food is medicine”. And when these foods can provide you and your family with health and longevity, what more could we ask for? Bon appétit 👩‍🍳
