Pet food drive/pet pantry updates:

I am so thrilled to report that the first round of donations for both the NW Philly community fridges as well as the Brandywine SPCA were a HUGE SUCCESS!

The next round of action is upon us, so here’s what’s happening:

In Philly: Familiar Hearts Animal Society is holding a pet pantry pop-up at the Germantown Community Fridge on 12/6! If you would like to donate, please let me know and I will either arrange a porch pickup or connect you to a donation location. For the Philly fridges, I am accepting Venmo donations and then I will take their suggested shopping lists/immediate needs to the stores to get items. If it’s easier to donate via Venmo, you can do this to -thorum and I’ll send you pics of my shopping haul. ☺️

For Chester County: My employer Tails N Whiskers Pet Services is calling on community action to help with their food drive! Even if you are no a current client, you can still donate. I am arranging pickups for folks who live in Chesco, and the business is also accepting Chewy shipments to their business address. If you would like to donate this way, let me know and I will send you more information.

The mission of all of this is to work together in our communities to help offset the cost of (often expensive) pet food for folks who are also struggling with food insecurity in light of everything going on and the cost of living crisis.

Community is my #1 most important personal value and it has been awesome to see all the help we have gotten so far.

Today is the last official day of business operations for Pawsitive Vibes Only. I am full of a lot of feelings but if I had to pick three - gratitude, peace and exhaustion.
Heavy on the tiredness, lol.

What began as a side hustle to make some extra cash since the beer industry was shifting into relative oblivion ended up becoming the foundation upon which I laid ✨the rest of my life.✨ Although the business is closing, the value system that I built for myself and for my family through its operation is perhaps the best gift I have ever received.

Do you have a moment in your life when you remember specifically thinking that you were “OFFICIALLY” an adult? Like, YOU were the adult in the room and you couldn’t call your Mom or a friend? Mine was when I was standing in the ER on 11/7/22, my husband half-dead on the hospital bed with tubes in his throat and I *technically didn’t have a job.* I had quit Stickman Brews just twelve days prior to focus on the business full time. We were living with family. He carried our health insurance. There was something so, so surreal about those moments - standing amidst the chaos of that morning, his medical team buzzing around me in fast forward trying to save his life, and me with the rising tingling sensation in my toes that no matter which way this went, we were kind of fu**ed.

Please don’t misunderstand me - sometimes, the most AMAZING transformations come out of those moments of intense “uh oh.” That is exactly what happened to us. Over the course of roughly the next two and a half years, the universe would systemically break down our entire life and everything we knew about it to help us find something better for ourselves.
