😻 This Week at The Cat Collaborative 😻

Every week, we stay focused on the mission that started it all: preventing more kittens from being born by getting as many cats spayed and neutered as possible!!

This week, thanks to our incredible volunteers, veterinary partners, donors, and supporters, we were able to continue making a real difference:

🐾 🐾 23 owned pet cats were spayed and neutered through our Owned Pet Spay/Neuter Program, helping families who might not otherwise be able to afford these essential surgeries. This program is incredibly important—our experience has shown that many of the unaltered cats who end up on the streets come from homes where resources are limited. When families are already struggling to care for the cats they have, unexpected litters can quickly become overwhelming. Kittens are often given away without proper screening or veterinary care, or simply put outside—unfixed, unvaccinated, and unprepared for life on the streets. Sadly, many do not survive, and those who do continue the cycle of overpopulation 😢😢.

🐾 34 community cats were spayed and neutered through our Trapper Program—the very foundation of The Cat Collaborative. This program remains the heart of what we do, supporting the dedicated trappers who work tirelessly to reduce outdoor cat populations in a humane and effective way.

That’s 57 cats whose lives have been dramatically improved and who will never contribute to the overwhelming number of kittens already flooding our community. Every surgery prevents countless future litters and helps us move one step closer to ending the cycle.

We also want to send a huge THANK YOU to our wonderful rescue partner, Best Friends in New York, who met us on the road this week to take six friendly, adoptable cats into their adoption program.
Rescue partnerships like these are absolutely invaluable. They make it possible for us to remain committed to one of the core principles of The Cat Collaborative: friendly cats deserve homes—not a return to the streets. Without organizations willing to step up and help place these cats, that commitment simply wouldn’t be possible.

This Week at The Cat Collaborative 😻😻😻😻😻!!

One thing we have realized is that we often get so busy doing our work that we forget to stop and share it with all of you! So, we’re going to try to change that. Each week, we will let you know what your support makes possible 💕💕.

This past week at TCC……

🐱 16 owned pet cats were spayed and neutered through our Owned Pet Program. These cats were dropped off at our Arsenal facility, transported by The Cat Collaborative team to their spay/neuter appointments, and then safely transported back to the Arsenal before heading back to their homes. Every cat was sterilized and received vaccinations, flea treatment, and any additional medical care we identified while they were with us.

This program is making a tremendous difference for families who want to do the right thing for their pets but simply can’t afford the cost of surgery—even at “low-cost” prices. Unfortunately, our waiting list is still incredibly long, so while we’re proud of every cat we help, we know there are so many more still waiting. 😢😢

🐱 55 additional community cats were spayed and neutered through our Trapper Program!!
This is where The Cat Collaborative began. Long before we added our Owned Pet Program, we were helping volunteer trappers throughout Philadelphia get outdoor cats fixed. Every one of those 55 cats represents thousands of future kittens that will never be born into homelessness, illness, hunger, or suffering. That is the incredible power of spay and neuter. Sterilization is, without question, the single most impactful thing we can do to improve the lives of cats and reduce the heartbreaking cycle of overpopulation.

In just one week, we facilitated the sterilization of 71 cats…and prevented thousands of future kittens from ever being born into lives of suffering 💕💕💕💕!!!

This work only happens because of our incredible volunteers, supporters, donors, and sponsors. We truly couldn’t do it without you.
If you’ve ever thought about getting involved, now is the time. We need volunteers to help transport cats, assist with daily operations, care for the cats at our Arsenal facility, help with fundraising, and so much more. We also rely entirely on donations to keep these life-saving programs going.

Together, we can create real, measurable change for cats in Philadelphia—one surgery, one transport, one volunteer shift, and one donation at a time. 😻❤️😻❤️

As we continue into our fifth year of operations, we are excited to share our third annual video highlighting some of the incredible work that The Cat Collaborative has accomplished over the past year 😻😻😻!

When we started this organization, we knew there was a tremendous need for accessible spay and neuter services, support for community cats, and resources for the people working tirelessly to help them. What we could not have imagined was just how much impact a dedicated team of volunteers, supporters, and donors could have. Together, we have helped change the landscape for cats in Philadelphia and beyond, and we are incredibly proud of what has been accomplished.

But one thing has not changed — the need continues to grow 😢😢😢. Every single day, we receive multiple requests for help. Our waitlist is already insanely long, and we know there are countless more cats and caregivers who need access to our programs. The reality is that our ability to help more cats depends entirely on having more resources, more volunteers, more sponsors, and more donations.
