250 Years of America. A Time to Celebrate… and a Time to Reflect. 🇺🇸

As a veteran, I proudly wore the American flag on my shoulder. I took an oath to defend the Constitution and the freedoms it promises to every person.

Today, as America marks 250 years, I’m asking myself a difficult question:

What are we celebrating if too many people still don’t feel safe, seen, or equally protected?

For many, recent changes to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, ongoing debates over rights and benefits, and the continued impact of prejudice and racism have raised concerns about whether our country is moving closer to—or further from—the ideals we pledged to defend.

Freedom isn’t just about waving a flag.
It’s about ensuring every American can live with dignity, opportunity, and safety.

As veterans, we served beside people of every race, religion, gender, and background. We didn’t ask where someone came from before trusting them with our lives. We stood together because the mission mattered more than our differences.

America’s 250th birthday shouldn’t only be about looking back. It should be about asking whether we’re building a country worthy of the next 250 years.
